Raspberry - Red Heritage

Description

Heritage is a red primocane raspberry supplied as one dormant bare-root plant. Extension references describe a vigorous cultivar with medium-size, firm, bright-red fruit and mild flavor. It ripens late, so the fall crop can be shortened in colder climates with early frost.

Plant form: One dormant bare-root raspberry plant

USDA zones: 4–8

Chill requirement: 250 hours

Fruiting type: Primocane / everbearing

Pollination: Self-fruitful; one variety can set fruit

Sun: Full sun

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil and maintain even moisture. For one fall crop, cut fruited primocanes to the ground during dormancy. Where the season is long enough, retain lower cane portions for a smaller floricane crop, then remove them after fruiting.
Extension references identify Heritage as immune to raspberry bushy dwarf virus (RBDV). This specific trait does not imply resistance to other diseases or eliminate the need for drainage, airflow, and sanitation.
