Description

Blake’s Pride Pear Tree combines the pleasure of a fine dessert pear with traits selected for a more resilient home orchard. Its yellow to light-golden fruit develops buttery flesh and an aromatic balance of sugars, acidity, and layered pear flavor. The result is a fruit worth eating slowly, yet versatile enough for salads, desserts, preserves, and cheese plates.
Blake’s Pride was bred for resistance to fire blight, an important consideration in regions where this bacterial disease can make European pears challenging. The tree’s white spring blossoms bring classic orchard beauty before the fruit begins to swell, and its harvest follows Bartlett, helping extend the pear season. For gardeners who want modern disease-resistance work without sacrificing the nuanced flavor of an excellent European pear, Blake’s Pride is an appealing bridge between practical breeding and genuinely memorable eating quality.
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil, water regularly through establishment, and prune during dormancy to maintain an open framework with good airflow. Thin dense clusters and harvest European pears mature but firm for indoor ripening. Because Blake’s Pride does not appear on the confirmed characteristics sheet, zone, chill-hour, harvest-date, and rootstock specifications are intentionally omitted pending verification.
Blake’s Pride requires another compatible European pear. Existing recommendations include Bartlett, Harrow Delight, and Warren where available.
Blake's Pride Pear Tree is suited to USDA zones 5–9 and requires about 800 chill hours. Harvest is typically late August to early September, with timing varying by region and season.
